Connecting the Lubbock device over USB using Windows 2000 and ActiveSync 3.5:
—————————————————————————–
The following section provides the necessary information to setup and install the host-side USB drivers on Windows 2000 machine.
Step 1: If you have previously installed this driver and wish to simulate a first-time install, then uninstall the driver(s) by following the instructions below. If you do not wish to simulate a first-time install, then proceed to step 4.
If you are using Windows 2000:
Use Hardware Wizard\Uninstall\Uninstall a device\Show Hidden\, then select and remove all previously installed Windows CE Serial Interface and Anchor EZ-Link Cables.
Delete %WINNT%\INF\oem* and %WINNT%\System32\drivers\wceusbs*. Note that the \INF dir is system hidden by default.
Delete the following from the Windows NT Registry:
HKLM\System\CCS\Control\Class\{25dbce51-6c8f-4a72-8a6d-b54c2b4fc835}
HKLM\System\CCS\Control\DeviceClasses\{25dbce51-6c8f-4a72-8a6d-b54c2b4fc835}
HKLM\System\CCS\Services\WCEUSBSH
HKLM\System\CCS\Services\EventLog\System\Wceusbsh
Step 2: Install Active Sync 3.5 to where it抯 done installing and ready to connect to the USB device.
Step 3: Copy the modified wceusbsh.inf file containing the Cotulla device VID/PID into C:\Temp directory. This file will be supplied to you. Also, copy the wceusbsh.sys file from the winnt\system32\drivers area to the C:\Temp directory.
Step 4: Boot the Lubbock Image. Configure the target device for USB connection as follows:
a) In Windows CE, choose:
Start->Programs->Communication->Remote Networking
b) Make New Connection->Direct Connection->USB Cable->Finish
c) In Windows CE choose:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->Communication
d) Choose PC Connection tab and click on Change Connection…
e) Select the connection you just created in step 4.b.
f) On the target, go to My Computer->Windows directory so that the repllog.exe executable image is visible.
Step 5: Plug in the USB cable to the device from the host.
Step 6: The target device will be detected and then ActiveSync will start trying to connect automatically.
Step 7: Immediately after step 6, on the target, select the My Computer->Windows directory and run the repllog.exe image.
At this point, host and target start interacting and they should connect shortly after.
Note: For Platform Builder 3.0 and 4.0 images, only Guest Partnerships can be established.
To disconnect the ActiveSync session, unplug the USB cable. ActiveSync will update its status to “Not Connected”. The target will still think it抯 connected. Wait until the “Connected icon” in the bottom right corner on the target device disappears before attempting subsequent connections.
For subsequent ActiveSync USB sessions, select Get Connected from the ActiveSync File drop-down list. Press the Next button. Connect the USB cable to the target device. Run repllog.exe as document in Step 7 above.
For subsequent ActiveSync sessions over a different transport (Serial, IR), be sure to choose the appropriate connection setup for that transport before attempting to establish the ActiveSync connection.
